Hanta is a journalist and Masasaki's oldest friend—they go way back to their college days. He's best known for leveraging his wide network of sources and contacts to help out with investigations, which he does throughout the story. Basically, whenever Masasaki needs information or a lead tracked down, Hanta's the guy who can pull strings and get answers.
