Tetsuo Tosu is one of the main characters in the manga My Home Hero, and he's basically the definition of a character arc done right. He starts out as your average salaryman in his thirties—married with a young daughter, quiet, the kind of guy who keeps his head down and doesn't make waves. Nothing remarkable about him at first glance: slightly overweight, thinning hair, the sort of plain wardrobe that screams "I don't think about clothes." He's the type you'd pass on the street without noticing.
But here's where it gets interesting. That forgettable exterior is hiding something much darker. Tetsuo carries a traumatic past that's left him drowning in guilt and self-loathing. It affects everything—his marriage, his relationship with his daughter, the way he sees himself. He genuinely believes he doesn't deserve their love and that he's helpless to protect them from anything.
Where Tetsuo becomes compelling, though, is in his actions. Despite all that internal damage, he's fiercely loyal and protective. Once the story gets going, he transforms from this broken, passive guy into someone who actually fights for what matters to him. As he starts to face his demons head-on, he develops real strength and confidence. He becomes, ironically enough, the hero he never thought he could be.
