Kibano was one of several martial artists who trained under Genkai, the legendary master. During the fourth test of the tournament, he faced off against Yusuke.
Like Yusuke, Kibano had naturally poor spirit awareness, so he compensated by wearing a specially designed helmet that blocked his sight, hearing, and smell—essentially forcing his remaining senses to sharpen and compensate. The strategy worked well enough: he was a skilled hand-to-hand fighter with the ability to bulk up his arms for added power. On paper, it should've been a solid matchup.
Yusuke beat him by using his Spirit Gun, but the real trick was surprisingly simple—he'd grabbed one of Genkai's discarded cigarettes and stuck it in Kibano's belt to use as a marker, letting him aim precisely even against someone trained to suppress conventional senses.
