Kaoru works as an assistant to Ryuuichiro Isaka. He joined the Isaka household after they helped the Asahina family through some serious trouble—basically, he came on board as a way to repay that debt. What started as him being hired as more of a playmate for Ryuuichiro eventually shifted into something closer to a caretaker role, and that's pretty much stuck.
