Lain is widely considered the strongest Blader of his generation. He's driven by an obsessive need to test himself against every legendary Blader out there—basically, he wants to prove he's the best by beating everyone worth beating. During intense matches, his competitive fire literally manifests as a fiery aura around his body, which fans often interpret as a visual representation of his raw power and determination. He's almost manic about pushing his limits and seeing how far that flare can actually go.
He comes across as difficult and abrasive to most people, but there's a genuine soft side buried in there. His hedgehog companion Harry is the one exception—Harry's basically always with him, and it's clear Lain cares deeply about the little guy in a way he doesn't seem to care about much else.
