When Celia was supposedly kidnapped, he commanded the rescue operation. Things didn't go as planned, though—he ended up fighting Rio and found himself outmatched. The fight got desperate enough that he had to escape, using the blinding flash from his sword attacks to cover his retreat before things got worse.
