Oboro Iga (Hime-Murasaki / Lavender Princess)Age: Unknown, presumably late teens/early twenties
Hair: Black (anime) / Dark purple (manga)
Eyes: Violet
Love interest: Gennosuke Kouga
Oboro inherits leadership of the Iga clan after her grandmother Ogen dies, though she's quickly replaced by the ruthless Tenzen, who sees her gentle nature as a liability. She's selected as one of the ten Iga fighters in the war against the Kouga—a conflict that tears her apart because her childhood love, Gennosuke, fights for the other side. If she'd been allowed to marry him before the peace treaty collapsed, countless lives on both sides could have been saved.
Her clan respects her formally (calling her "Oboro-sama"), but many view her as an outsider. They take advantage of her trusting, selfless nature more than once, though she remains loyal regardless. She's not a particularly skilled fighter, but her Mystic Eyes can strip ninja of their powers entirely. There's a darker layer to this ability too—if she feels enough hatred, the technique becomes destructive and mutilating instead. Knowing this, and terrified she'd use her powers against her own clan to protect Gennosuke, Oboro seals her eyes shut using a potion Ogen gave her years before, forcing herself through what she calls the "Seven Days of Darkness."
As the war drags on, she's forced into impossible choices and watches people she loves die. The emotional weight changes her, pushing her toward maturity and hard truths, though she rarely shows the toll it takes. Despite her pacifism, Oboro becomes remarkably determined when others' safety is on the line—she regularly makes exhausting pilgrimages to visit the graves of fallen relatives, insisting on praying for each one because "they deserve that respect."
Tenzen desires her as a wife (and a path to absolute power), attempting to rape her at least twice. Koshirou is genuinely devoted to her but bound by loyalty to Tenzen. Gennosuke alone holds her heart. The original novel describes her as having "a face that shone as beautifully as the sun" with "deep, almost-hypnotic crystal eyes of intensity"—though her real strength lies in the quiet determination that surfaces when people need her.
