She's one of the few Fairy Tail members who never actually joined as a mage—she started out working for the guild as an employee instead.
Kinana's past is pretty rough. When she was younger, some evil wizard cursed her and turned her into a snake. She stayed that way until Makarov, the guild master, figured out what had happened and managed to reverse the spell. At first, after being turned back human, she had zero memory of her time as a snake. But years later, those memories started creeping back in—fuzzy at first, then stronger. She's been hearing a strange voice asking her to share her thoughts, which seems tied to her snake form somehow.
