Ichi was Nobita's first dog, and fans often remember him as the pet that started it all. He showed up when Nobita was playing baseball with Gian and Suneo—the ball went into a river, and Ichi jumped in after it without thinking. Problem was, he couldn't swim, so he nearly drowned before Nobita pulled him out.
For a while, Ichi stuck around with Nobita, but keeping a secret dog is hard. When Nobita's mom almost caught them, the two had to bolt using Doraemon's Anywhere Door and hide out in the mountains. That's where things got complicated—they ran into a whole bunch of stray cats and dogs out there.
Rather than leave them all to fend for themselves, Nobita came up with a plan: use Doraemon's time machine to take the animals back to the past, where they could live free without worrying about humans or survival.
