He comes across as shy and meek, but he's got this intense dual nature—he's into both inflicting and receiving pain, and he doesn't really hide it. The interesting thing is that despite his soft-spoken demeanor, he'll do whatever he actually wants without hesitation. That timid exterior doesn't stop him from pursuing his desires.
He's also clingy with people he's attached to, and he's developed a pretty dark hobby of hurting himself. It all ties into his whole sadistic-masochistic thing. His knife collection, which he spends time carefully maintaining, kind of says it all about where his head's at.
