Chuukaku was a ninja monk from the Fire Temple who served as Chiriku's mentor. As both a skilled fighter and scholar, he trained Chiriku before eventually passing away and being buried in the Fire Temple's cemetery.
During the Fourth Shinobi World War, Kabuto accidentally summoned him while searching for Chiriku using the Impure World Reincarnation Technique. Recognizing Chuukaku as one of his weaker reincarnated shinobi, Kabuto deployed him to help break the seals on stronger pawns—particularly the Third Raikage. The plan backfired when Temari attacked him, and the Fourth Division quickly sealed him away. Once Kabuto's technique was finally undone, Chuukaku's soul returned to the afterlife where it belonged.
