Antales runs the bandit operation in Grape Valley on Titan, where he's taken in a bunch of orphaned kids—casualties of Count Mecha's human hunts. (The TV version simplified things: he was just a thief trying to support his own family.) He's got a serious hate-on for the machine people and technology as a whole, which makes sense given what he's seen.
When Tetsuro comes looking for answers, Antales steers him toward the pirate Emeraldas, who supposedly knows where Count Mecha's Time Castle is hidden. He's also blunt about what needs doing: hunt down the Count and don't hesitate. No mercy.
There's something darkly comedic about Antales himself—his body's packed with unexploded energy bullets that keep misfiring at the worst possible times. One of those untimely detonations actually cuts him off right when he's about to tell Tetsuro something crucial about Maeter, leaving that mystery hanging.
