Freed Justine
Freed is a 20-year-old S-Class mage from Fairy Tail, though Erza's the one who actually confirmed he's skilled enough for that rank. He's best known for his Enchantment magic, which lets him inscribe runes that create real effects on whatever he targets—mostly pain and suffering, if we're being honest. He can write these characters with his sword and they take effect pretty much instantly, despite what Makarov thought about needing prep time.
He's one of the guild's "Mystery Men" alongside Mystogan and Gildarts, and he lives up to the name by keeping his face hidden most of the time. When the Phantom Lord conflict went down, Freed happened to be out of town, so he missed that whole mess. He also hadn't been around the guild hall for about six months before that, meaning he'd never even met newer members like Lucy.
Freed's the self-proclaimed captain of the Raijinshuu—a trio of mages who basically serve Laxus. Laxus calls him "Freed the Dark." Of the group, he's definitely the quietest. There's something complicated going on with his loyalty though; when Laxus ordered him and the others to kill guild members if necessary, Freed actually questioned it. When Mirajane confronted him about their friendship, he just said "we were once"—which pretty much says everything about where his head was at that point. Still, he seems to respect Laxus enough to follow through with his orders, even if it costs him.
During the Battle of Fairy Tail, Freed's enchantments were used as traps to force guild members to fight each other. After Laxus eventually left the guild, Freed shaved his head, though it grew back to normal eventually.
