An elderly blacksmith and old friend of Inu-no-Taishou who's responsible for forging both the Tessaiga and Tenseiga. Toutousai shows up mainly when one of these swords needs repairs or when InuYasha needs a crash course in unlocking the Tessaiga's hidden abilities. He's got some impressive skills himself—can breathe fire and swings around a massive forging hammer. He gets around on the back of Mō-Mō, a three-eyed flying ox yōkai. The name Tōtōsai literally translates to "sword purification," which fits his whole deal as a master swordsmith.
