Sussana von Beenemünde served as Imperial Consort to Kaiser Friedrich IV until he cast her aside for Annerose von Grünewald. The rejection apparently stung hard enough that Beenemünde couldn't let it go. Desperate to reclaim her position, she became obsessed with eliminating Annerose's younger brother, Reinhard von Lohengramm—figuring that removing him might somehow restore her favor with the Emperor.
The problem was her plotting was sloppy. Every assassination attempt she orchestrated fell apart, and despite suspicions pointing her way, authorities never managed to gather solid enough evidence to actually charge her. She managed to stay just barely out of reach of real consequences, even as her schemes kept failing.
