A quiet, indoor type who's been best friends with Akira since childhood. Yukiya's got that weird combo of seeming wise—he'll instantly look anything up on his yPad—but also kind of sheltered, since he doesn't actually experience much of anything firsthand. He's pretty strict about getting at least an hour of nap time every single day.
Among his club, he's easily the most inventive. You'll catch him tinkering with oddball gadgets in almost every episode, ranging from actually functional X-ray glasses (which Souma constantly drools over) to the unbreakable eyeglass frames he made specifically for Souma. That said, he's a bit of a klutz and occasionally gets himself banged up while working on his projects.
He's got a thing for metal top-rimmed glasses. His own vision is pretty rough at 0.01 in both eyes.
