Akane Gushiken is an anime-only character from the Stars season. She worked as a star director and was notably protective of her privacy—so much so that when Rei encountered her at T.A. Girls' Academy, where she taught under the name Sister Angela, Rei was genuinely surprised to recognize her.
She's best known for directing a new musical featuring the Three Lights, though she came down hard on Seiya specifically. While the other members got standard direction, Akane pushed him relentlessly, frustrated that he wasn't bringing the same emotional intensity to the stage that he poured into his concerts. She wanted to unlock his full potential, even if it meant being the difficult one in the room.
That determination to stay out of the spotlight eventually backfired. When Chuuko Nezu tracked her down at the studio one evening during Seiya's extra rehearsal to demand an interview, Akane flatly refused. She had no interest in being on television; as far as she was concerned, her work spoke for itself. Nezu didn't take the rejection well and revealed herself as Sailor Iron Mouse, ripping out Akane's Star Seed and transforming her into the Phage Sailor Director. The fight that followed brought Sailor Star Fighter into the mix, but it was ultimately Sailor Moon who managed to restore Akane to normal.
