Gaou's one of the central characters introduced in volume 4. He's a mass murderer consumed by hatred for basically everyone around him—his twisted worldview and violent tendencies drive a lot of the conflict in his arc. The guy's also visibly disfigured and lost his arm when he was a kid, which shaped a lot of who he became. Fans tend to note that his physical appearance and tragic background feed into his rage, though he's ultimately responsible for the choices he makes.
