Are's father was killed during a raid involving some kind of mysterious weapon, and Rao ended up taking his place in the king's army. At first, Are is pretty driven to hunt down Rao and get revenge for what happened to his dad. But once he finds out what's actually going on with that weapon, he switches sides and teams up with Rao to take down the King instead.
