So he's become obsessed with dodging every death flag that comes his way, constantly second-guessing decisions and avoiding situations that feel like they're setting him up to die.
The problem? Everyone thinks he's crazy. His constant paranoia and weird evasive behavior make him seem unstable to the other characters. They genuinely believe something's wrong with him—that there's literally a screw loose, a pit in his brain. He doesn't fit the pattern of how people are supposed to act, so naturally they assume he's the unhinged one, not that he's desperately trying to game the narrative to stay alive.
It's a solid survival strategy on his part, even if it means everyone around him thinks he's lost it.
