Takeru used to play rugby alongside Akira and Kencho, though he was never as committed to it as they were. The three of them once dreamed about opening a bar together, but when their job searches actually panned out, life just. pulled them in different directions. It's one of those things—nobody fought it, they just drifted.
These days he's a serious gambler. He reconnects with Akira and Kencho back in his hometown of Osaka and gets introduced to their wider friend group through that.
Combat-wise, Takeru fights with a heavy-duty slingshot, which the group finds pretty ridiculous. He's genuinely a terrible shot most of the time, but somehow manages to nail the important moments when it actually matters. It's his whole thing—unreliable until he suddenly isn't.
He ends up joining Akira's crew mainly because he wants an excuse to travel around with his old friends again. That's really what drives him.
