Things shifted after Kaoru stepped on her feet by accident. Instead of getting angry back, Kaoru tried to smooth things over by handing her a free coffee coupon from the cafe where she works. The turning point came when the girl noticed Gaku at the cafe. After being told that the cat wouldn't appreciate her bad attitude, something clicked for her, and she genuinely decided to change for the better. It's one of those satisfying redemption moments.
