Suzu Ueshige is a second-year at Himematsu High School in South Osaka, best known as a supporting character in the manga *Saki*. She's got an inconsistent mahjong game—sometimes she's solid, sometimes not so much—and the other members of her school's mahjong club don't exactly make her life easy. Still, coach Ikuno Akasaka saw enough potential to add her to the tournament roster, mainly because Kyouko Suehara vouched for her and believed she had what it took. Despite the rough treatment from her teammates, Suzu stuck with the club, which says something about her determination.
