Liza runs the Charicific Valley, a sanctuary she's dedicated to raising and training wild Charizard in their natural habitat.
She first met Ash's Charizard in Charizard's Burning Ambitions when it showed up looking to train with the other powerful Charizard there. Liza turned it away after it lost to her own Charizard, Charla—but impressed by the Pokémon's determination, she eventually let it stay. The valley became a regular training ground for Ash's Charizard, and Liza would occasionally bring it back to him when needed.
Beyond the valley, Liza's known for her long friendship with Clair, the Blackthorn City gym leader, dating back to their childhood. She frequently travels to Blackthorn City to work with her Charizard there, using the city as an additional training spot. She even showed up briefly in the third Pokémon movie alongside Charla and several other valley Charizard.
