A doctor running the Hanazono clinic in Shinjuku, he's basically the go-to medical guy for the local underworld crowd—which doesn't exactly pay the bills. He picks up extra work as a club barker just to get by, though he's genuinely skilled at what he does. He was actually the second person (after Umibozu) to figure out that Kaori had come back as Xiang-Ying. Before Tomoko became his nurse, he'd worked with Kaori years ago when she was around Xiang-Ying's age.
The character pulls from the original Doc in the City Hunter manga, where he regularly helps Ryo out. Since Doc never made it into the anime adaptation, viewers often wonder how that relationship even works.
