He's basically the loyal friend of Sagi and Toki, genuinely devoted to looking out for both siblings. Even when Toki (disguised as Sagi) was dead set against getting outside help with their ghost problem, he went ahead and reached out to Konoha anyway—he was that concerned about them. His willingness to stick his neck out for them really showed when he figured out that Mousou was running a con. That discovery nearly cost him his life, but he managed to report what he'd found to both Toki and Naruto. Later on, he almost didn't make it through one of Oki's attacks either, but he pulled through.
