Lyon is a former student of Ur's, trained alongside Gray as a child in ice magic. Where Gray and Lyon differ most is in their approach: Lyon casts with one hand, trading raw power for speed, while his ice constructs take the form of mobile animals rather than static shapes. It's faster but less stable than Gray's two-handed technique.
Lyon's obsession with surpassing Ur consumed him early on. He'd secretly read through her magic books, desperate to master spells beyond what she was openly teaching him. When Ur sacrificed herself to stop Deliora by encasing the demon in ice, Lyon's world shifted—and his resentment landed squarely on Gray, whom he blamed for robbing him of that chance to prove himself.
He's got a crush on Juvia, though that doesn't get him far.
