A ninja dog who's basically the Headmaster's right-hand man. He walks around on his hind legs most of the time and has actual ninjutsu skills, which is pretty cool for a dog. Beyond combat training, he handles a lot of the day-to-day stuff around the academy—ringing the bell (his main gig), cleaning up, bringing tea to visitors, and challenging the Headmaster to the occasional game of shougi. He's disciplined enough that he doesn't bark; instead he makes this little "hemu hemu" sound that's actually where his name comes from. Fans appreciate that he's way more competent than you'd expect a dog character to be, with real training and responsibilities rather than just comic relief.
