Reki grew up in the northwestern Aizu, far from the Slayer organization's reach. When demons razed her home a decade before the story begins, she was rescued by Rinne and taken to Shiranui Village, where the local chief raised and trained her in combat.
Despite her foster chief's opposition to the Slayers, Reki admired them—she saw their heroism as essential to humanity's survival. When Rinne struck out on her own and left the village to pursue her own path, Reki saw it as a mistake. Rather than stay put, she tracked down Souma's Hundred Demon Corps unit herself, determined to prove she belonged among actual Slayers.
Her arrival raised red flags. Souma and Kuyou weren't convinced of her loyalty or usefulness at first. That changed when she helped them take down a Kazenui in combat. Impressed, they officially brought her into the unit and brought her along when they headed to Utakata Village.
