Ferid Bathory is one of the seven progenitors—the founding vampires—and he's best known as the one who murdered Yuuichirou's entire family. That single act basically created Yuu's entire vendetta against vampirism itself.
Personality-wise, Ferid's a walking contradiction. He's charming and energetic, constantly cracking jokes and stirring the pot with this gleeful, almost childlike enthusiasm. But there's a sharp edge underneath: he's calculating, unpredictable, and loves pushing people's buttons just to see how they'll react. He'll say something deliberately inflammatory, then brush it off with a laugh and "just kidding!" It's annoying on purpose. He takes particular pleasure in needling Krul Tepes and Mikaela Hyakuya—especially Mika—to the point where it genuinely threatens his safety. Crowley Eusford has noted that Ferid has this talent for making "interesting" things happen, usually chaos of his own design.
The guy's also deeply suspect. When Crowley starts wondering if a high-ranking vampire noble is leaking information to the humans, Ferid's his first and most likely suspect. He's genuinely self-serving and willing to betray his own side whenever it benefits him. There's strong evidence he's been working with the humans all along. Most impressively, he's managed to blackmail his way out of Krul's death sentence—no small feat when the Vampire Queen wants you dead.
