Just as Academy City's space elevator Endymion nears completion, Kamijou Touma and Index run into a level 0 girl named Arisa. It turns out the magicians want her badly enough to launch an attack on the city itself. A female commander named Shattoaura leads Academy City's defense against them. Through Stiyl, Kamijou learns that Arisa is at the center of an escalating conflict between the magic and science factions. When these two worlds collide, things kick off against the backdrop of the Endymion elevator.
