Thirty years ago, a catastrophic event called a "spatial quake" wiped out over a hundred million people. Since then, humanity developed emergency systems—instant evacuation protocols, rapid reconstruction—to prepare for the next one. Sixteen-year-old Shidou Itsuka lives with his sister Kotori. When a spatial quake hits despite the warnings, he somehow survives. In the aftermath, he encounters a mysterious girl—a "Spirit," one of the supernatural beings actually causing these disasters. He also learns about an Anti-Spirit Team, a military unit that deals with them the direct way: by destroying them. Things get weirder when Shidou gets recruited by Ratatoskr, an organization trying to neutralize Spirits peacefully instead. The kicker? His sister runs the place. Ratatoskr's strategy is. unconventional. To seal away a Spirit's powers, Shidou has to take them on dates and kiss them. Yep. That's his new job.
