Devils and Realist
Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist
William Twining is one of Stratford School's top students, but being a strict rationalist who's all about science, he doesn't buy into God, the supernatural, or anything else that can't be proven. So it's pretty ironic that he attends a religious school. The Twinings are an old money family, one of Britain's most respected noble houses—but William's uncle went missing after racking up serious debts. Desperate to cover what he owes, William finds a hidden room in the family manor. And that's where things get weird: a stranger suddenly appears and introduces himself as Dantalion, claiming to be a Grand Duke of Hell. According to Dantalion, William's got some special power called an "elector"—basically, he's the one who gets to pick Hell's next Emperor. Supposedly this ability runs in the family line, passed down from King Solomon. Except William's a hardcore skeptic. He tells Dantalion flat-out that demons aren't real and refuses to back his claim for the throne. Problem is, Dantalion doesn't take rejection well. He enrolls at Stratford under the alias "Dantalion Huber" just to stick around and wear William down. Now William's stuck dealing with a demon roommate he can't get rid of—and if Hell's got a succession crisis, there's probably more demons where that one came from.
