Takopii no Genzai
A squid-like alien called a Happian arrives on Earth with a mission to spread happiness across the universe. Things go south pretty quick though—humans start hunting him for capture. He's rescued by Shizuka Kuze, a gloomy kid who takes him in and names him Takopii. Grateful for the rescue, Takopii becomes obsessed with making her smile. Easier said than done. Shizuka's got it rough—she's bullied at school, her dad's absent, and her mom's basically never around. Takopii's too naive to really grasp how heavy all that is. The one bright spot in Shizuka's life is her dog Chappy, and seeing how much that dog means to her only fuels Takopii's determination. His efforts to cheer her up tend to backfire spectacularly, but he's not giving up. Takopii's ready to take matters into his own tentacles, figure out how humans actually work, and finally achieve his goal of bringing happiness into her world.
