Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
Kodaka Hasegawa is just trying to survive high school when he stumbles upon Yozora Mikazuki—a perpetually scowling girl—having an enthusiastic conversation with herself. The two bond over their mutual lack of friends and decide to do something about it. Yozora, armed with way too much enthusiasm and questionable judgment, decides to start a club. Before Kodaka knows what's happening, a bunch of other socially awkward girls have joined up, and he's stuck in the middle of it all. What follows is a chaotic mix of galge marathons, pool trips, and terrible stage performances. It's messy and weird and the friendships they form are definitely unconventional, but somehow it works. Whether Kodaka can actually call these people his genuine friends—and maybe find something more—is the whole point of this bizarre, occasionally heartfelt comedy.
