Ace of the Diamond
Diamond no Ace
Eijun Sawamura's middle school baseball career ends in heartbreak—his unusual fastball costs Akagi Middle School a shot at nationals. As captain, he blames himself and makes a promise to get his friends there in high school. But with grades in the gutter and no realistic path forward at local schools, he's stuck. Then a scout from Seidou High School in Tokyo notices that final pitch. He convinces a reluctant Sawamura to check out their practice, and what he sees impresses him. During a casual scrimmage, Sawamura meets Kazuya Miyuki, the team's catcher, and they click immediately—Miyuki brings out something special in Sawamura's pitching. After experiencing life at such a competitive program, Sawamura's doubts fade. He feels guilty about leaving his former teammates behind, but they push him to go for it. So he enrolls at Seidou, determined to become their ace and finally reach nationals—this time carrying Akagi's spirit with him.
