Synopsis

Mushi are the most basic forms of life—if you can even call them that. They just exist, with no real purpose or goal beyond simply being. They're neither good nor evil; those concepts don't really apply to them. They show up in all kinds of forms, mimicking natural things like plants, diseases, or even rainbows. The problem is, barely anyone knows mushi exist, so information about them is thin on the ground. Trying to pin down what they actually are is almost impossible. A Mushishi named Ginko has made it his life's work to figure them out. Mushishi are people who study mushi, trying to understand where they fit in the natural world. Ginko travels around chasing down rumors and strange occurrences that might be connected to mushi. He's hoping that if he can understand them, he might just find the answer to bigger questions—maybe even the meaning of life itself.
