Synopsis

Kong Hongjun grew up isolated on Mount Taiheng as a half-yao, and when he finally gets his chance to venture into the human world, he's given three missions: find out who killed his father, wipe out the Black Jiao and its yao followers hiding in Chang'an, and return a magical artifact called the Heart Lamp to someone from the Chen family. Things immediately go sideways when the Heart Lamp ends up absorbed into the body of Li Jinglong, a military general, on Kong Hongjun's very first night in the city. Then Kong Hongjun gets recruited into Chang'an's Court of Exorcism and finds himself working directly under Li Jinglong, who's fallen from grace. Together with a fellow yao, a foreign nobleman, and an anxious scholar, they're tasked with hunting down and eliminating yao infesting the city. The catch? Kong Hongjun has to keep his yao nature hidden from Li Jinglong, who hates yao with a passion. Meanwhile, he's desperately trying to figure out how to extract the Heart Lamp from Li Jinglong's body before his secret gets exposed.
