Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari
Souta Tawara left his hometown in Kagawa Prefecture for Tokyo years ago, fully determined never to take over his family's udon restaurant. But when his estranged father dies, he has no choice but to return to the place he'd spent so long trying to escape. He comes back expecting to find nothing but an empty house and a shuttered restaurant. Instead, he discovers a scruffy kid curled up inside one of the cooking pots, using a sack of flour as a pillow. The boy turns out to be the tanuki that locals have been talking about—a shape-shifting raccoon dog that's lived in the area for who knows how long. Too soft-hearted to leave him alone, Souta takes him in and names him Poko. As Souta settles back into Kagawa, old memories start flooding back, along with the guilt of never resolving things with his father before he died. Udon no Kuni no Kiniro Kemari follows Souta and Poko's story as the boy, in his own innocent way, helps Souta make peace with his past and figure out what comes next for both of them.
