Slayers
Lina Inverse, a self-proclaimed genius sorceress with a talent for theft, robs a bandit camp blind and makes her escape with a parting fireball. She's heading to Atlas City with dreams of fortune when the surviving bandits catch up to her for payback. Before things get too messy, a wandering swordsman named Gourry Gabriev shows up and mistakes her for someone needing rescue—which Lina is perfectly happy to let him believe. She gets him to do all the fighting, but then Gourry insists on escorting her the rest of the way out of honor. It's annoying, but when the original owners of her loot track her down, Gourry turns out to be way more useful than any stolen treasure. As Lina digs deeper, she realizes the items are being magically traced and some serious players are involved. What started as a simple theft has become something much bigger—and what she's actually holding onto is worth far more than gold.
