Synopsis

Tetsurou Hoshino is a street kid obsessed with one thing: getting an android body. It'd make him immortal and give him the freedom that androids enjoy—but it costs a fortune. His only real shot is the Galaxy Express, a legendary train headed to Andromeda where rumor has it you can get an android body for free at the final stop. When his mother is killed by an Android Count, Tetsurou loses any reason to stay put. He's got two goals now: find that train, get his android body, and avenge what happened to her. Before he can figure out how to board solo, he runs into Maetel, a mysterious woman who offers him a ticket—as long as he agrees to travel with her. What follows is a journey through strange worlds and unusual planets. Each stop gives Tetsurou time to think about what it means to be human, what humans do, and whether immortality is really worth chasing. Along the way, he and Maetel cross paths with various people, including the enigmatic Emeraldas and the outlaw Harlock.
