One morning, Wataru Hoshino wakes up to find a half-naked girl sleeping in his room. She bolts out the window when she comes to—but not before punching him in the face. Turns out this girl, Rinna Sawaki, is a new transfer student at his school and, more awkwardly, his new dorm roommate. Wataru already lives with four other girls and their teacher, so things are already cramped. To make matters worse, the local power company is shutting down its aviation branch, which means the families tied to it—including Rinna's—have a year before they have to leave the island for good. Knowing she'll have to say goodbye soon, Rinna refuses to get close to anyone, figuring it's better to avoid the pain of separation. Wataru's not having it, though, and spends the year trying to change her mind.
