Hikaru no Go
When Hikaru finds an old go board in his grandfather's attic, he's shocked to discover it's haunted—by Sai, the ghost of an ancient go master from the Heian period. Sai spent his life teaching the game to an emperor and is desperate to pass on his knowledge and pursue what he calls the "Divine Move." Hikaru isn't interested in board games at all, but Sai won't take no for an answer. Reluctantly, Hikaru agrees to play, moving pieces exactly as Sai instructs. At first it's just something he's doing to get Sai off his back. But as he enters the competitive world of go and meets other passionate players—especially his rival Akira Touya—Hikaru finds himself genuinely drawn in. He starts to grasp the game's complexity and becomes determined to prove himself, driven by both Sai's guidance and his own growing ambition.
