Synopsis

Megumi Nishizaki wrote thirteen light novels based on Fushigi Yûgi over five years, with artwork by series creator Yuu Watase. Most of the Fushigi Yûgi Gaiden books focus on the Celestial Warriors' backstories before the events of the original manga. Two exceptions are the Eikō Den novels, which take place after the manga ends—and these two later became the source material for the third Fushigi Yûgi OVA, Eikoden. Shogakukan published the series, but none of the novels have ever been released in English. Each book contains roughly ten chapters.
