It's some point in the future, probably Japan. Robots have become everyday tools, and androids—machines that look almost exactly like humans except for a glowing ring on their heads—are just starting to enter regular use. The Robot Ethics Committee has convinced society that androids should be treated as appliances, nothing more. But since they're basically indistinguishable from people, plenty of folks have started treating them like actual beings anyway. These "android-holics" have become kind of a social issue. Rikuo's a high school student who was raised to see androids as tools and nothing else. That changes when he notices some weird data in the activity logs of Sammy, his family's household android. With his friend Masaki, Rikuo starts tracking where Sammy's been going. What they find is a hidden café operating under one strange rule: humans and robots get treated the same way.
