Tamako Love Story
The novel follows two separate stories. The first centers on Tamako and Midori during their third year of high school. While their classmates worry about the future, Tamako's mind is basically just mochi—she can't think about anything else. Meanwhile, Mochizou has decided to head to Tokyo for college, and Midori finds herself caught between them, dealing with her own concerns. The second story involves Choi, who's still desperately trying to find a bride for the prince back home. She teams up with Dera—who's gotten pretty round at this point—and they try using fortune-telling to locate the prince's future wife, but keep coming up empty. That changes when they stumble across a mysterious document while searching through the country's library for fortune-telling research. Some of what happens in the novel doesn't actually make it into the film adaptation.
