Humanity's been in decline for centuries now—birthrates just keep dropping. Meanwhile, the fairies have thrived. These tiny creatures, only about 10 centimeters tall, turned out to be incredibly intelligent and became the dominant species on Earth. I ended up working as a UN arbitrator between humans and fairies, which is why I headed back to my hometown to help my grandfather out. Figured the job would be pretty straightforward, so I decided to visit one of the fairy settlements nearby to introduce myself. Things didn't go exactly as planned, though.
