Synopsis

Keiichi Maebara has just moved to the quiet village of Hinamizawa and quickly falls in with a friendly group of locals. Among them is Satoko Houjou, a young girl who's always joking around and pulling pranks, but who's actually dealing with some serious personal trauma behind the scenes. Despite everything she's been through, Satoko manages to stay upbeat, and Keiichi finds himself taking on a protective, almost brotherly role in her life. Things take a dark turn when Satoko's uncle Teppei shows up in town. His presence brings out obvious signs of abuse, and Keiichi becomes increasingly desperate to help her—so desperate, in fact, that he starts thinking about taking extreme measures to keep her safe.
