Humanity used to be advanced and powerful, but a catastrophic war called the Seven Days of Fire nearly wiped them out. Now the survivors are scattered across different kingdoms, all trying to stay away from the Sea of Corruption—a massive, toxic forest crawling with mutant insects and fungi that choke the air with poisonous spores. Nausicaä is the princess of the Valley of the Wind, a small agricultural kingdom. When the militaristic Torumekia invades the neighboring Dorok Empire, she gets dragged into the conflict and forced to fight alongside Torumekian forces, including their ruthless princess Kushana. Through it all, Nausicaä sees exactly what war does to people and the planet. Despite her gentle personality, she somehow has this natural charisma that draws people to her—and she might be the only person who can actually save humanity before the war and the spreading corruption wipe everyone out for good. The story is basically about a world destroyed by human mistakes and the unstoppable force of nature taking it back.
