Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Himatsubushi-hen
Detective Mamoru Akasaka is used to the fast-paced crime scenes of Tokyo, so being sent to the peaceful village of Hinamizawa feels like a completely different world. He's there undercover as a tourist, but his real job is finding a kidnapped child. The situation's tense. A group of villagers have taken the grandson of the Minister of Construction hostage, demanding the cancellation of a dam project that would destroy their home. Akasaka needs to locate the boy before this hostage situation spirals out of control—all without blowing his cover in a place where trust is hard to come by. Set a few years before the main Higurashi story, Himatsubushi-hen shows Akasaka working his way through a village full of suspects and hidden agendas. But he catches a break when he befriends a young girl named Rika Furude. She seems to know way more than she should about what's happening around them, and maybe even what's coming next.
